Portia Lee James DeGeneres (also called Portia de Rossi) is a famous Australian and American actor, model and an philanthropist. She legally changed her name at age 15and adopted the title 'Portia', derived from the Shakespearean The Merchant of Venice', and then adopting the Italian de Rossi name which she found to be glamorous. Portia says that she believes she's done the best thing she's done. The struggle she had with her sexuality spurred her to change her name. Her career in the film industry began when she starred in the romantic comedy film "Sirens. The film featured her alongside Hugh Grant. Portia has starred in many American television films, such as "Too Something," "Nick Freno's Licensed Teacher', Arrested Development as well as Better Off Ted.
